PUBLIC BUSINESS. - EXPIRING LAWS BILL, 1928—SECOND STAGE.

Question proposed that the Bill be read a second time.

There were certain amendments put down in my name, and I think I may say the same of those in the name of Senator O'Farrell. Perhaps it is obvious to you that unless some such course as we have followed had been followed there might not have been an opportunity to raise the discussion we hope to raise. It was primarily with the intention of ensuring that discussion and that some explanation would be made that the amendments were put down.
