Vol. 13 No. 31

Public Business. - Electoral (Dublin Commercial) Bill, 1930—Report Stage.

Bill passed through Report.
Question proposed: "That this Bill be received for final consideration, and do now pass."

This, I think, is the proper time to enter a protest against the whole principle of this Bill. I am quite satisfied that the Bill as such is adequate and is as satisfactory a Bill as could be worked out in detail for the purpose intended. It is against the purpose of the Bill that we desire to enter our protest—against the principle that has been accepted in the putting through of this commercial register. I—and I take it the same feeling is shared by a number of other Senators—desire it to go on record that I am opposed to the principle contained in this Bill, and I intend to vote against it.
