I have received a communication from Senator Joseph O'Doherty to the effect that he was elected a member of the Dáil for the constituency of Donegal at the General Election held on the 24th January last. Accordingly, pursuant to Article 16 of the Constitution, he is deemed to have vacated his seat in the Seanad.
Under Standing Order 108, it is my duty to announce the vacancy to the Seanad, and the Seanad must make an Order directing the Clerk to send notice thereof in writing to the Minister for Local Government and Public Health, in order to cause such vacancy to be filled.
Ordered accordingly.
