Seanad Éireann debate -
Thursday, 7 Dec 1933

Vol. 17 No. 27

Injuries to Property Acts and Damage to Property Act, 1933—Rules of Procedure. - Motion of Approval.

I move:—

That Seanad Eireann hereby approves the Rules of Procedure as to Compensation for Injuries to Property under the Criminal Injuries Acts and the Damage to Property (Compensation) (Amendment) Act, 1933, a copy of which was laid on the Table of the Seanad on the 6th day of December, 1933, and resolves that it is expedient that the said Rules shall come into operation on the 1st day of January, 1934.

These rules are merely formal. They are made in accordance with the provisions of Section 66 of the Courts of Justice Act, 1924. They are supplementary to the rules made under the Principal Act. They are concerned with forms that have to be adopted by interested parties and by practitioners. The reason for selecting the date "1st January, 1934" is for the purpose of giving due notice to practitioners and interested parties so that they will be able to prepare to deal with them.

Question put and agreed to.
