Vol. 18 No. 9

Central Fund Bill, 1934—Second Stage.

I explained here that the Minister for Finance is unfortunately ill and is not allowed to leave home. It has been suggested that this Bill be postponed until the next meeting and we could take all the stages of the Bill on that day. I am entirely in your hands and the hands of the House. The only advantage that I might call your attention to is that any question which Senators might desire to raise could be considered and perhaps the Minister for Finance would be in a better position to deal with it than if it was taken on the spot. I do not object to the postponement of the Bill provided we could feel that we would have the Bill finished on the same day.

Cathaoirleach

We will make sure of that. A certain section of the House is very anxious that the Minister should be here.

Question—"That the Bill be postponed until Tuesday, 20th March"— put and agreed to.
