Vol. 18 No. 10

Order of Business.

Cathaoirleach

The House will recollect that it was decided at yesterday's sitting that we should meet on Tuesday of next week; and I should like to take this opportunity of stating what I understand to be what has been agreed on as regards the order of business. On Tuesday we shall have the Committee Stage of the Defence Forces (Temporary Provisions) Bill and the Second Stage of the Central Fund Bill. Motions have been handed in by Senator Séumas Robinson which will enable the remaining stages of those Bills to be disposed of on Tuesday if the House so wishes. It is probable that we shall also receive from the Dáil the Town and Regional Planning Bill and a Message regarding certain of our amendments to the Workmen's Compensation Bill. If so, these items will also appear on the Order Paper for Tuesday. We have now received from the Dáil the Wearing of Uniform (Restrictions) Bill, and it is obvious that the debate on the Second Stage of this Bill is likely to be prolonged. It is accordingly proposed that the Second Stage of this Bill shall be the first item on the Order Paper for Wednesday and I hope we shall proceed with it until the Second Stage has been disposed of. Any items left over from Tuesday will be carried over to the Order Paper for Wednesday, but will be subsequent to the Wearing of Uniform (Restrictions) Bill. This last-mentioned Bill will not appear on the Order Paper for Tuesday. As regards the Committee Stage of the Control of Imports Bill, which is our only remaining Bill, we can decide what to do about that when we have disposed of the Second Stage to-day. Is that agreed?

Agreed.
