I have to announce to the House that I have received a certificate signed by James O'Brien, Esq., K.C., Registrar of the Supreme Court, and dated the 24th February, 1936, in the following terms:—
"I, James O'Brien, Registrar of the Supreme Court, hereby certify that Senator Michael Comyn, K.C., was this day sworn in as a circuit judge before the Chief Justice of Saorstát Eireann."
Pursuant to Article 69 of the Constitution, Senator Comyn vacates his seat in the Seanad on his appointment to be a circuit judge. Under Section 2 of the Seanad By-Elections Act, 1930, the House must now make an order directing the clerk to inform the Minister for Local Government and Public Health of the casual vacancy, in order to cause such vacancy to be filled.
Ordered accordingly.
