Vol. 35 No. 3

Local Elections Bill, 1948—Motion for Earlier Signature.

I move:—

That, pursuant to sub-section 2º of Section 2 of Article 25 of the Constitution, Seanad Eireann concurs with the signature by the President as soon as may be of the Local Elections Bill, 1948.

It was explained yesterday afternoon that this Bill must pass into law at the earliest possible moment and members of the House agreed to pass it through the Committee and other stages this evening. This is a motion to enable the President to sign the Bill and to make it law as soon as may be in accordance with the urgency of it with regard to the dates.

Question put and agreed to.
