Vol. 51 No. 12

Transport Bill, 1959—Committee and Final Stages.

Section 1 agreed to.
SECTION 2.
Question proposed: That Section 2 stand part of the Bill.

May I, with respect, correct the Minister? Superannuation arrangements are not solely the concern of the Board of C.I.E. Superannuation arrangements as envisaged in this section and in similar sections in previous transport legislation are made by order of the Minister.

Question put and agreed to.
SECTION 3.
Question proposed: That Section 3 stand part of the Bill.

May I say that the Minister said that we were not making a precedent but that of course we are creating a precedent? We are providing a precedent which, I think, is a good one and one which should be extended. I think I should also make it clear that when I spoke on the Second Stage about the superannuation and the lump sum already provided to Mr. Courtney, in fact Mr. Courtney paid a contribution, a percentage of his salary, towards his superannuation. I should say that in fairness. That is the position so far as I know.

Question put and agreed to.
Sections 4 and 5 agreed to.
Title agreed to.
Bill reported without amendment, received for final consideration and passed.
