I should like to ask the Minister, in view of the fact that other pensions are to be increased to-day by seven and a half per cent., why is it that here the military service pensions are being increased by only five per cent.?

Question proposed: "That Section 1 stand part of the Bill."
This is in accordance with the Budget Statement made by the Minister for Finance. He announced definitely in that statement that military service pensions would be increased by five per cent. and this gives statutory effect to that undertaking.
