Seanad Éireann debate -
Wednesday, 31 May 1961

Vol. 54 No. 6

Electoral (Amendment) Bill, 1961. - Business of Seanad.

I move that the House do now adjourn.

I second that.

An Leas-Chathaoirleach

It has been proposed and seconded that the House do now adjourn.

There is no dissentient.

An Leas-Chathaoirleach

No dissentient.

I want to inquire at what stage is it proposed on this holyday of obligation to adjourn the proceedings of the House. I have been asking that question for some time and I want to find out.

If Senator O'Quigley does not delay unduly, we will finish the business before the holiday begins by old time. If he is not determined on obstruction, we can do it.

I do not think it is correct to impute obstruction to a member of the Seanad.

We are not as innocent as that. Does the Senator think we are blind?

Senator O'Quigley's contributions have always been excellent and well worked out. He has done much work since he came into this Seanad and he has had Bills changed. That is more than can be said for the Leader of the House.
