Vol. 59 No. 5

Public Business. - Defence Forces (Pensions) (Amendment) Scheme, 1965: Motion.

I move:

That the Defence Forces (Pensions) (Amendment) Scheme, 1965, prepared by the Minister for Defence with the consent of the Minister for Finance under Sections 2, 3 and 5 of the Defence Forces (Pensions) Act, 1932 and Section 4 of the Defence Forces (Pensions) (Amendment) Act, 1938 and laid before the House on the 14th day of July, 1965, be confirmed.

I take it these provisions are in line with those in the previous Bill which we recently passed, that this is the carrying into effect of the provisions in the Pensions Abatement Bill?

In so far as it relates to the abatement of the pensions of retired officers who are in public employment, yes.

And there are no substantial discrepancies between the provisions here and those in the Pensions Abatement Bill?

There is none.

They are completely in line?

Question put and agreed to.
