Vol. 65 No. 1

Order of Business.

It is proposed to take Nos. 1, 2 and 6.

Is it proposed to continue No. 2 until it is completed before taking No. 6 or is No. 6 to be taken at some particular hour?

We will complete No. 2.

Is it intended to meet tomorrow to finish No. 2?

It depends on how far we get.

Is it intended, if it is not furnished tonight, to complete No. 2?

It depends on how far we get with the work tonight.

The Leader of the House is not very informative today.

I seek a little enlightenment as to why the Second Stage of the Road Traffic Bill is being taken before a Bill the Second Stage of which we have already started to discuss—why a Second Stage Bill is to be taken before a Second Stage (Resumed) Bill.

Government Bills take precedence over other matters.

It was my understanding until just now that in fact, we were to take the Broadcasting Authority (Amendment) Bill secondly. This seems logical because of the Minister's presence, and that we should not take the Second Stage of the Road Traffic Bill this evening. It seems odd to have the Minister here and to send him away telling him to come back at some unknown time. Would the Leader of the House not consider taking the Broadcasting Bill after the first item——

I do not know where the Senator got that impression. I certainly did not give it to him. I was anxious to get the Road Traffic Bill under way and that is why it has been put down as No. 2. It is a hefty measure and that is why it will take some time to get through all its stages.
