Vol. 66 No. 13

Electricity (Special Provisions) (Repeal) Bill, 1969—Committee and Subsequent Stages.

Bill put through Committee, Reported without amendment and received for final consideration.
Question proposed: "That the Bill do now pass."

May I say on the Final Stage, on behalf of this side of the House, how glad we are that this Act has been repealed and that the repeated efforts of Fine Gael to do this have eventually borne fruit?

I am glad to hear the confession of Fine Gael. Is my memory not correct, then, that Fine Gael voted for this Act when it was going through and that the only opposition was from the Labour Party? I hope my memory is correct.

And subsequently sought to repeal it because it was no longer necessary.

The confession is welcome, anyway.

Question put and agreed to.
