Vol. 66 No. 15

Order of Business.

It is proposed to take business as set out in the Order Paper from Nos. 1 to 3.

On the Order of Business, at our last meeting the Leader of the House indicated that he hoped to clear the Order Paper before the dissolution of the Seanad. Is he now abandoning that intention in only ordering Nos. 1, 2 and 3? We have been anxious for some time that some of these motions should be taken. In particular we consider that the motion in regard to Biafra is a matter of urgency. Many people indicated rather cynically that this was a problem which would be solved by the passage of time. We in the Seanad now wish it could be solved by the passage of time involving the change of Ministers.

I hope to clear the Order Paper before the dissolution of the Seanad. Neither the passage of time nor anything the Fine Gael Party could do could have solved the situation in Biafra.

Could we have something more definite from the Leader of the House? The Report on Full Employment is the most important one that was issued in the past three years. It is a disgrace to the Seanad that it has been there for two years and that we still have not found time to consider it. It cannot be pleaded that we are overworked.

The Senator will get plenty of time.
