Vol. 67 No. 6

Order of Business.

It is proposed to take Nos. 7 and 1.

On the Order of Business, I should like to ask the Leader of the House if, having had an opportunity of reflecting on the matter and in view of the widespread indignation caused by his remarks relating to the Rev. Fergal O'Connor, he will now consider withdrawing them?

That does not arise on the Order of Business. If the Senator wishes to raise a point of order he may do so.

We have before us a motion to accept the Order of Business. I suggest to the Seanad that as a protest, unless the Leader of the House gives an indication of withdrawal of his remarks, that we should not accept the Order of Business and we should divide on it. I do not wish to put the House to that trouble and I feel sure that the Leader of the House would welcome an opportunity of saying a few words in regard to this matter.

The matter of the Order of Business is a matter for the House. The point raised by Senator O'Higgins would not appear to arise on this. Is the Order of Business agreed?

No, it is not agreed.

Question put: "That the Order of Business be Nos. 7 and 1."
The Seanad divided: Tá, 27; Níl, 17.

Question declared carried.

Ar mhiste dhom a fhiafraí cathain a tógfar an tairiscint uimhir a sé?

Tá riar na hoibre socruithe.

Could we have any idea as to when it is likely to be taken?

Perhaps Senator Ó Maoláin might be in a position to reply?

Bhfuil Riar na hOibre socruithe?

Tá sé socruithe.

Níl mé cinnte cén uair a bhféadaimis é sin a thógail go dtí go mbeidh criochnú le ghnó an Rialtais.

Tá fhios ag an Seanadóir nach bhfuil ach aon lá ar fhechead ag an Teach chun na rialacháin sin ar chur ar cheall, má cuirter ar cheall iad, agus tá sé lá ídithe cheana. Mar sin, níl ach cúig lá déag fágtha againn chun iad a chur a cheall. Tá sé ag eirighe beagáinín práinneach.

Féachfaidh mé isteach sa cheist.

Go raibh maith agat.
