Seanad Éireann debate -
Tuesday, 21 Dec 1971

Vol. 71 No. 18

Order of Business.

It is proposed to take Nos. 1, 5, which I understand Senator Alexis FitzGerald wishes to withdraw, 2 and 3.

In respect of No. 2 on the Order Paper, I understand that the proposal is that the Appropriation Bill be agreed to without discussion and that early in the New Year an appropriate motion will be brought before the House to enable us to discuss what we would be entitled to discuss on the Appropriation Bill. It is right that we should have that assurance at this stage from the Leader of the House and he should give a firm indication as to the date on which it is proposed to meet in January. I understand that the proposal is that we should meet about the 11th or 12th January.

It is proposed that the Appropriation Bill be taken and all Stages completed today without debate, that the House adjourn until 11th January and that the Appropriation Bill be discussed then on a motion which will enable Senators to discuss it in the same way as if it were now before us.
