Vol. 75 No. 2

Business of Seanad.

We are now within one minute to 6 o'clock. I understand an agreement has been reached to take certain business at 7.15 p.m. What does the House wish to do at this stage?

I think we should dispose of No. 8 before breaking. It should not take more than half an hour or so.

I would not like to embark on it on that basis. There might be quite a bit to be said about that Bill.

No. 8 has to go through by the 27th. The Minister for Finance is in difficulties in that he will be away next week. I think the only way we can deal with it is by carrying on with the business and perhaps we could take our tea in shifts.

Could it be taken tomorrow?

It would be impinging on the time allotted to the EEC motion. We also have to take the Social Welfare Bill tomorrow.

Is the Senator suggesting that we sit through tea time until we finish this Bill?

Yes, just for this item. Senator Yeats will understand that it does not preclude me from going to my tea.

I am grateful to you, a Cathaoirleach, Senator Yeats and the House for facilitating me in this regard.
