Vol. 78 No. 13

Order of Business.

It is proposed to take Nos. 1 and 2.

Is it proposed to sit tomorrow?

I do not think so. The Minister for Finance is on his way—he will deal with No. 1.

I understand the Prosecution of Offences Bill will be finished in the Dáil by lunchtime today. I was wondering if it would be possible to take that in the afternoon or tomorrow.

If the House would agree, perhaps we could have a look at the position at lunchtime and we might add it to today's Order Paper.

It would be a matter for the House. However, I hope the House will appreciate that Senators would be entitled to assume it would not be taken today. It has not yet been passed in the Dáil. It is a matter for the House to decide that.

I fully agree with the Chair, but if there is a request from the Opposition we might have a look at it at lunchtime. If it does come from the Dáil, if there is a desire to take it and if we are in a position to do so today, I personally would have no objection.

It is a Bill on which there would have to be an interval between the Second Stage and Committee Stage. In view of the fact that we are nearing the end of the session it is one that I would suggest, if it is feasible.

We can see what the position is at that stage.

Order of Business agreed to.
