Vol. 93 No. 1

Order of Business.

It is proposed to take Nos. 1 to 6 in that order but in the event of the preceding business not being concluded by 5 o'clock, it is proposed to take No. 6 at 5 o'clock.

I would like to refer to item No. 18 on the Order Paper which is a motion noting the annual report of the Employment Equality Agency and it also notes that that report contains specific reference to the fact that the agency felt constrained in their activities in the period under review by the limitations imposed upon them by the insufficient Exchequer grant under which they operated. In view of the fact that this is the first annual report of the Employment Equality Agency and that it contains the specific reference to the fact that the agency consider themselves to be inadequately funded, we are very anxious to have an early debate on this motion, before the budget in January. I appreciate that the Leader of the House has been facilitating Members in turn in providing times for motions to be debated and I ask him, if possible, to treat this motion as urgent so that the House might debate it before we rise in December.

I support Senator Robinson in her request for special urgency to be given to item No. 18 which seems to be an extremely important motion which should be taken at the first possible opportunity.

While not wishing to conflict with Senator Robinson and Senator Hussey, I would like to ask the Leader of the House whether the placing of No. 8 at that point on the Order Paper means that it is proposed to take that motion, which stands in my name, at an early date?

It is proposed to take a motion on the next sitting day, which will be this day fortnight. I am not sure whose turn it is at the moment. Subject to that I will certainly endeavour to have these motions taken as early as possible.

Order of Business agreed to.
