Vol. 94 No. 5

Order of Business.

It is proposed to take Nos. 3, 2, 1, 4 and 5, No. 5 to be taken at 4 p.m. if not reached before that. No. 5 will be taken until its conclusion and if the business up to then has not been concluded before then it will be resumed after No. 5.

I ask permission to withdraw Motion No. 26 which the Fine Gael group in the Seanad tabled immediately the proposed changes in the school transport scheme were announced because we considered that this was an ill-considered scheme, that it would inflict undue hardship on school-going children and on families, especially those in the remote areas, and that it would be in breach of a promise given to——

I am sorry, Senator, but there can be no discussion on this. The Senator may withdraw the motion if he wishes but there cannot be a discussion on it.

That is the reason why we put it down and I am withdrawing it because it has been announced——

The Senator appreciates that the Chair cannot allow any discussion on this. Is the Senator withdrawing the motion?

With respect, would I not be entitled to give a reason for withdrawing it?

Order of Business agreed to.
