Vol. 95 No. 13

Order of Business.

It is proposed to take Nos. 1 to 5 inclusive.

On the Order of Business, I want to express disappointment at the lack of other than purely routine legislation coming on to the agenda of this House. A Bill recently passed in the Dail, the Turf Development Bill, is a Bill of considerable importance and significance in rural Ireland. Many people in the country, local authorities and individuals, were hoping that this Bill would be law in time for the current turf cutting season. Having regard to the campaign to substitute native fuel for imported fuel, it is vitally important——

That Bill is not on the agenda.

I realise that it is not on the agenda, but I suggest to the Leader of the House that because of the urgency of the Bill he should ensure that it is put on the agenda for next week.

I understand that the Minister for Energy is away at the moment and he may be away next week. The Bill will certainly be on the Order Paper next week if the Minister is available.

Order of Business agreed to.
