Vol. 100 No. 4

Industrial Credit (Amendment) Bill, 1983: Committee and Final Stages.

Sections 1 to 3, inclusive, agreed to.
SECTION 4.
Question proposed: "That section 4 stand part of the Bill."

I do not think the point I am making is important enough to warrant putting down an amendment, but would the Minister consider the next time one of these short Bills dealing with the Industrial Credit Company comes before the House, introducing a provision amending this right of waiver to limit it to the schemes which are outlined quite clearly in his Second Stage speech? We should not leave it as it is because if we leave the possibility of it applying to the general advances to the company it will be used for that purpose later on. That would be a pity because it would destroy the industrial integrity of the company. Would the Minister give some consideration to that at some future date?

I will put that before the Minister for Finance.

Question put and agreed to.
Sections 5 to 7, inclusive, agreed to.
Title agreed to.
Bill reported without amendment, received for final consideration, and passed.
