Seanad Éireann debate -
Thursday, 19 May 1983

Vol. 100 No. 10

Business of Seanad.

I gave notice this morning that under Standing Order 29 I wished to raise the problem of the removal of pupils from school buses in County Leitrim which has commenced this week.

I have considered the Senator's request and I have had some doubts of a technical nature on the urgency of the matter but I have decided to give the Senator the benefit of the doubt. I will fix the time for moving the motion for 4 p.m., or earlier if the business ordered is concluded.

On the ordering of the business of the House, there might arise the problem that this debate would still be in full flower at 4 p.m. and the question might arise then — if there was only an hour or two of debate — that the House might prefer to take an extra hour or an extra two hours beyond 5.30, rather than that we meet tomorrow.

Agreed.
