Vol. 101 No. 4

Order of Business.

It is proposed to order No. 1 and No. 3. No. 1 is a Bill in which a number of Senators will be interested. If we want to allow adequate time for consideration of amendments, it is highly desirable that the House should conclude the Second Stage today. I express the hope that the House will do so even to the extent of sitting for a short period beyond 5 p.m. if that is necessary. However, it may well be that Second Stage would be concluded before 5 p.m. and that there would be some time available to take up No. 3. If we are close to 5 p.m. when Second Stage of No. 1 is completed it might unduly break up the debate on the EEC motion if we were only to have a short debate today and have to continue next week. I suggest, therefore, that we order No. 1 and No. 3, No. 3 to be taken only if reached by 3 p.m.

Order of Business agreed to.
