Seanad Éireann debate -
Wednesday, 12 Sep 1984

Vol. 105 No. 1

Business of Seanad.

Earlier today on the Order of Business there was some discussion in regard to item No. 4. There has been agreement among the groups to the extent that the time for the debate should be extended from three hours to four and a half hours and that the time for speakers should be extended from 15 minutes to 25 minutes and, in the case of a proposer, from 30 minutes to 35 minutes. Accordingly, I move, and ask the House to agree, that notwithstanding Standing Order No. 41 the time allowed for the debate on item 4 on today's Order Paper shall not exceed four and a half hours in the aggregate; The speeches of the proposer and the seconder should not exceed 35 and 25 minutes respectively.

Agreed.

As we have now run over our time I suggest we should not unduly limit ourselves and that we should now suspend until 7 p.m.

Sitting suspended at 5.35 p.m. and resumed at 7 p.m.
