Vol. 106 No. 5

Business of Seanad.

An Leas-Chathaoirleach

Before we commence business I would like the Leader of the House to explain the delay in commencing.

I should like to apologise for the delay. At my request the Leas-Chathaoirleach did not enter the Chamber because a few minutes before 2.30 p.m. a matter came up and the Government Chief Whip was in contact with me concerning the business to be taken today. I had difficulty in contacting the Minister involved. I might point out that the delay was not unduly long. Our Standing Orders indicate that the delay is not serious until it exceeds 15 minutes. This delay was four minutes.

An Leas-Chathaoirleach

I have notice from Senator Jimmy Deenihan, on the motion for the Adjournment of the House today, that he proposes to raise the following matter:

The successive delays over a period of ten years in the implementation of the decision to build a vocational school at Castleisland, County Kerry.

I regard the matter as suitable for discussion on the Adjournment and it will be taken from 8 p.m. to 8.30 p.m., or earlier if the business ordered is concluded.
