Seanad Éireann debate -

Vol. 108 No. 12

Order of Business.

It is proposed to take today Nos. 1, 2, 3 and 4. No. 1 is formal. It is proposed to take No. 2 today because later this month there will be a meeting in Nairobi in connection with the drawing to a close of the UN Decade for Women and it was thought appropriate that we should, before the date of that conference, at least initiate our debate on the report of this working party. It is proposed to break at 5.30 p.m. and when we resume at 6.30 p.m. to take the remaining one hour and 45 minutes of item No. 4. For the information of Senators, it is proposed to meet tomorrow to take Nos. 5, 6, 7 and 8 on today's Order Paper. Last week Senator Brendan Ryan inquired, in connection with item No. 10 on today's Order Paper, what was the position in regard to the Government's Housing Bill. The last time I reported on this I indicated that approval had been given to the Heads of a Bill and that the drafting of the Bill was under way in the parliamentary draftsman's office. I am happy to be able to report that the Bill has been drafted and that the final text is at present being considered by the Government.

Order of Business agreed to.
