There were discussions among representatives of the groups in the last few days to see if we could complete the discussion of item No. 3 this evening. There was a general agreement that we would sit late if this appeared to be a real possibility. Due to the fact that there was a long but, I understand, excellent debate on item No. 2, we are only commencing No. 3 at 6.30 p.m. Since there are many speakers offering and since I intend to reply to this long debate it would be unrealistic to hope that we could finish at 9 p.m. or 10 p.m. Accordingly, my suggestion is that we adhere to our normal time and that the Adjournment be taken at 8 p.m. For the information of Senators the proposal would be that item No. 3 be taken as the first item of business on this day week.
