Seanad Éireann debate -
Wednesday, 19 Feb 1986

Vol. 111 No. 7

Request under Standing Order 29.

I have notice from Senator Michael Lanigan that he wishes to move a motion under Standing Order 29. I now call on Senator Lanigan.

I wish to move a motion for the Adjournment of the Seanad on a specific and urgent matter of public interest requiring urgent consideration, the matter being the very grave dangers to the people of Ireland resulting from the leaks of nuclear waste from the Sellafield plant.

I have decided that the motion is covered by the Standing Order and I ask Senators who support it to rise in their places.

More than five Senators rose.

The debate on the motion will take place at 6.30 p.m. or at the conclusion of business ordered whichever is the earlier, and must conclude at 8 p.m.
