Vol. 111 No. 13

Business of Seanad.

An Leas-Chathaoirleach

I have notice from Senator Jack Fitzsimons, that on the motion for the Adjournment of the House today, he proposes to raise the following matter:

In view of the recommendations of the Report of the Commission on the Status of Women 1972 and the Joint Committee on Women's Rights First Report, 1984, the need for the Minister for the Environment to issue a general policy directive under the Planning Acts to provide that a general precondition for the granting of planning permissions for housing schemes shall be the provision of creche or day nurseries.

I also received notice from Senator Jimmy Deenihan of the following matter:

The urgent need for the Minister for Education to sanction proposals for (i) the new school, Scoil Mhiceasmainn, Tralee, Co. Kerry, and (ii) the extension of Coolard National School, Listowel, Co. Kerry.

I also received notice from Senator Rory Kiely of the following matter:

The need to extend the Maigue Drainage Scheme, Co. Limerick, to tributaries which have not yet been approved of by the Office of Public Works.

I regard the matters as suitable for discussion on the Adjournment. I have selected Senator Fitzsimons's motion for today's Adjournment and it will be taken at the conclusion of business. Senators Deenihan and Kiely may give notice for another day of the matters they wish to raise.
