Vol. 113 No. 6

Order of Business.

It is proposed to take Nos. 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 in that order. No. 1 is a report from the Committee on Procedure and Privileges in regard to the broadcasting of the proceedings of the House. It represents a long series of discussions and the motion is signed by a representative of each of the groups in the House. So it represents the opinion of all the groups.

In regard to No. 2, a short while before the end of business last night there was an understanding that this would not be taken today but would be taken next Tuesday. Subsequently the Leader of the Opposition on the adjournment of the debate indicated that it should be taken this morning. It is on the basis of what the Leader of the Opposition said at the conclusion of proceedings yesterday that I am ordering No. 2.

No. 3 is the Urban Renewal Bill. It is proposed to take only the Second Stage. No. 4 is the Garda Síochána Bill. It is proposed to take only the Second Stage. It is hoped that No. 5 might be completed, even if this involved sitting for some short time beyond the normal closing time but the exact arrangements could be made. We should take a one hour break sometime around lunch time at a suitable point in the debate.

I am confused about Item No. 4. Is it proposed to conclude the Second Stage of Item No. 4, the Garda Síochána (Complaints) Bill?

If the Second Stage runs to 5 o'clock we will then adjourn. If it concludes earlier we will go on to No. 5.

Order of Business agreed to.
