Business of Seanad.

An Leas-Chathaoirleach

When is it proposed to sit again?

It is proposed to sit on Wednesday, 1 October 1986 at 2.30 p.m. It is appropriate on behalf of the Leader of the House and me to thank all Senators for their co-operation during this session. We dealt with quite a lot of legislation, we have quite a lot of legislation to deal with when we come back. I would assure Senator Lanigan that the legislation we have just been debating will be taken soon after the recess so that it will come into law as quickly as possible.

I thank the Cathaoirleach, the Leas-Chathaoirleach and the staff of the House for their assistance to me personally in the running of the House, particularly during the past couple of weeks when we tried to get as much legislation as possible dealt with. I hope Senators, particularly those in busy constituencies, will have a good short summer recess. Like me, I do not thing they will have much of a holiday because they will be working even when the House is not sitting.

On behalf of Fianna Fáil I wish you and the Cathaoirleach a happy break. We have had an interesting if exhausting term during which relations between the parties, the Leader of the House and his Deputy Leader were quite harmonious, with one or two hiccups. I hope that will continue.
