Seanad Éireann debate -
Wednesday, 29 Oct 1986

Vol. 114 No. 9

Business of Seanad.

I have notice from Senator Jim Higgins that, on the Motion for the Adjournment of the House today, he proposes to raise the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Health to indicate his intentions in relation to the opening and staffing of the Aras Attracta Mentally Handicapped Unit at Swinford, County Mayo.

I also received notice from Senator Michael D. Higgins of the following matter:

The undue delay by the Department of Education in acceding to the request of the Sligo School Project who are seeking to establish a multi-denominational school in Sligo.

I also received notice from Senator Jack Fitzsimons of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Education to have the proposed extension to Longwood Vocational School, County Meath, completed as a matter of extreme urgency.

I also received notice from Senator Deenihan of the following matter:

The initiation of a ferry service in 1987 between Cork and Swansea.

I also received notice from Senator Killilea of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Agriculture to ensure that the vesting of the McHale estate in County Galway takes place as a matter of extreme urgency as the families of landowners are unable to complete extra family houses on this estate which are at a very advanced stage structurally.

I regard the matters raised by Senators Jim Higgins, Michael D. Higgins, Fitzsimons, Deenihan and Killilea as suitable for discussion on the Adjournment.

I have selected Senator Jim Higgins's matter for today's Adjournment and it will be taken from 8 to 8.30 p.m. or earlier if the business ordered is concluded. Senators Michael D. Higgins, Fitzsimons, Deenihan and Killilea may give notice for another day of the matters they wish to raise.
