Vol. 117 No. 10

Business of Seanad.

May I ask you, a Leas-Chathaoirligh, to ask the Leader of the House to give us a report on what exactly is the matter with our offices and what is being done? This may have only now come to the notice of the superintendent but I am convinced there has been a gas leak there for a while. I would like to be assured that it is——

An Leas-Chathaoirleach

Perhaps at tea time the Leader of the House may convey whatever information he has then.

I will endeavour to find our exactly what the problem is. I do agree with Senator Fennell that this is not the first time there has been a gas leak in that particular building. We will have to get a full report on it.

I would like to join with the other Members in sending our best wishes to the Cathaoirleach and in the hope that she will be back with us soon again. We will have a break from——

As my previous question was not appropriate to the Order of Business, perhaps you could give me a ruling on whether it is appropriate for the Leader of the House and — or the Leas-Chathaoirleach to sum up a debate in terms of the number of speakers from each side and to further——

An Leas-Chathaoirleach

It does not arise at this stage. We are moving on.

An Leas-Chathaoirleach

If the Senator would like to call to the Cathaoirleach's office afterwards we could have a full discussion on it.

You must surely indicate to me where the statement came from last week?

An Leas-Chathaoirleach

I am prepared to meet and discuss the matter with the Senator in the office as soon as I leave the Chamber.

I will do that but I also indicate to you that I intend to get the results of that discussion on the record of the House.

An Leas-Chathaoirleach

The Senator is out of order. I would like to join with the House in sending good wishes to the Cathaoirleach.
