Seanad Éireann debate -
Wednesday, 2 Dec 1987

Vol. 117 No. 17

Business of Seanad.

I have notice from Senator Paschal Mooney that, on the Motion for the Adjournment of the House today, he proposes to raise the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Foreign Affairs to clarify the position in relation to the British Nationality Act, 1981, in view of the widespread concern expressed by Irish citizens resident in the United Kingdom.

I also received notice from Senator John Connor of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Education to provide funds immediately for the extension and refurbishment of Williamstown National School, County Galway.

I also received notice from Senator Patrick Kennedy of the following matter:

The abolition of An Foras Forbartha.

I also received notice from Senator Paul Bradford of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Agriculture and Food to clarify the position regarding the application by many groups of farmers in the North Cork area to join the disadvantaged areas scheme.

I will take Senator Connor's matter on the Adjournment. The other Senators can re-apply. We will take Senator Connor's motion from 8 p.m. to 8.30 p.m., or earlier if the business, as arranged, is concluded.

Before we go on to the Order of Business — it is not usually done but then I do not do usual things — I would like to express sympathy to the Leader of the House on a recent bereavement.
