Vol. 120 No. 12

Request Under Standing Order 29.

An Leas-Chathaoirleach

May I interrupt the Senator? Senator Catherine Bulbulia has given notice that she wishes to raise a matter of urgent public importance. I have notice from Senator Bulbulia regarding a motion which she wishes to move under Standing Order 29. I now call on Senator Bulbulia to give notice of her motion before I give my ruling.

Thank you a Leas-Chathaoirligh. I wish to move a motion for the Adjournment of the Seanad on a specific and important matter of public interest requiring urgent consideration, the matter being the loss of life of 290 innocent people as a result of United States action in the Persian Gulf, the need for the Government to voice their deep regret and to pursue every avenue open to them to bring about peace and stability in that region.

An Leas-Chathaoirleach

I have decided that the motion is one covered by the Standing Order and I ask Senators who support the request to rise in their places.

Senators Bulbulia, Connor, Doyle, Hogan, Manning, Murphy and B. Ryan stood.

An Leas-Chathaoirleach

The debate on the motion will take place at the conclusion of business, In view of the acceptance of this motion raised by Senator Bulbulia the Debate on the Adjournment matter cannot take place today. Would Senator Hogan like to resume on the Córas Beostoic agus Feola (Amendment) Bill, 1988?

Was it not agreed that at 4 p.m. we would take the motion on Nelson Mandela?

An Leas-Chathaoirleach

Would Senator Hogan conclude?
