Vol. 120 No. 12

Request Under Standing Order 29.

Senator Connor, I am sorry to interrupt you for a moment but I have notice from Senator John A. Murphy regarding a motion he wishes to move under Standing Order 29. I call on Senator Murphy to give notice of his motion.

I wish to move a motion for the Adjournment of the Seanad on a specific and important matter of public interest requiring urgent consideration, the matter being the need for the Government to support forthwith at the Intergovernmental Conference the Mawhinney proposals aimed at encouraging integrated education in Northern Ireland.

I have given careful consideration to the matter raised by Senator Murphy and I do not consider it to be a matter contemplated by Standing Order 29. I regret, therefore, I have to rule it out of order.
