Wednesday, 14 Dec 1988

Vol. 121 No. 12

Business of Seanad.

I have notice from Senator Seán Fallon that, on the Motion for the Adjournment of the House today, he proposes to raise the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Health to prepare public awareness programmes in the area of donor organ transplantation.

I also received notice from Senator Donie Cassidy of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for the Environment to sanction the sewerage treatment works at Castlepollard as a matter of urgency due to the pollution dangers to Lough Dereveragh.

I also received notice from Senator John Connor of the following matter:

In view of the disappointing outcome of recent attempts to change US Immigration Law and the non-preference 5 Visa Programme, the need for the Minister for Foreign Affairs to provide funds to emigration reform and welfare groups working among and for the illegal Irish emigrant community in the United States of America.

I also received notice from Senator Seamus Cullimore of the following matter:

The need for the Government to impress upon the public the desirability of purchasing Irish goods especially at this time of the year.

I regard the matters raised by Senators Fallon, Cassidy, Connor and Cullimore as suitable for discussion. I have selected Senator Fallon's matter and it will be taken at the conclusion of business. Senators Cassidy, Connor and Cullimore may give notice on another day of the matters they wish to raise.
