Vol. 123 No. 4

Committee of Selection: First Report.

The Committee of Selection reports that it has nominated the following members to serve on the Committee on Procedure and Privileges: Senators Cassidy, Dardis, Doyle, Fallon, Harte, Lanigan, McGowan, Manning, O'Toole, Wright; Liam Naughten, Chairman.

I move: "That the Report be laid before the Seanad.

Question put and agreed to.

On a point of order, I have spoken on many occasions about the very bad acoustics in this Chamber. I would regard myself as very professional in regard to acoustics and I have made suggestions on how the acoustics in this Chamber could be perfected at a cost of no more than £100. I hope by the time we sit here next Wednesday that some attention will be given to it. In particular, the volume of sound from the Cathaoirleach's Chair is totally unacceptable to us here.

I suggest a much more simple approach — that speakers would raise their voices.
