Vol. 126 No. 14

Business of Seanad.

An Leas-Chathaoirleach

I have notice from Senator Patrick Kennedy that, on the motion of the Adjournment of the House today, he proposes to raise the following matter:

The relocation and development of St. Gabriel's School and clinic in Limerick for the physically handicapped on a site which has been acquired for this development joining St. Paul's School, Dooradoyle, and that the proposed development be part of the implementation of an overall plan for the provision of services for the physically handicapped in the area of the MidWestern Health Board.

I have also received notice from Senator Pól Ó Foighil of the following matter:

To ask the Minister for the Environment to make funds available to bodies of approved status for the annual maintenance of accommodation built under section 5 of the Housing Act, 1988.

I also received notice from Senator David Norris of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Justice to review the case of a prisoner in Arbour Hill (name supplied) with a view to exercising him ministerial prerogative of commuting the sentence in the light of its compartive severity taking into account the circumstances of the case.

I also received notice from Senator John A. Murphy of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Education to extend higher education grants to the small minority of students who, while not meeting formal academic requirements, are admitted to third level institutions on the grounds of mature years.

I also received notice from Senator Liam Cosgrave of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Labour to take appropriate action to ensure the return of suburban train services with its chaotic effect on the travelling public following the unofficial industrial action.

I also received notice from Senator Carmencita Hederman of the following matter:

The need for the Taoiseach to ensure that the Bronze Age gold collar at present in London be returned to Ireland.

I regard the matters raised by Senators Kennedy, Ó Foighil, Norris, Murphy, Cosgrave and Hederman as suitable for discussion on the Adjournment. I have selected Senator Kennedy's matter and it will be taken at the conclusion of business. Senators Ó Foighil, Norris, Murphy, Cosgrave and Hederman may give notice on another day of the matters they wish to raise.
