Vol. 126 No. 15

Election of Acting Chairman.

Clerk of the Seanad

I have to inform the House pursuant to Standing Order 12 that the Cathaoirleach and Leas-Chathaoirleach are absent from this sitting. It will be necessary, therefore, to elect a Member to perform the duties devolving upon and exercise the authority conferred upon the Cathaoirleach by Standing Orders for the period of absence of both.

I will take proposals for Acting Chairman.

I propose Senator Michael Lanigan to take the Chair.

I propose Senator Tras Honan.

Clerk of the Seanad

The question is, "That Senator Michael Lanigan be elected Acting Chairman."

Senator Lanigan has withdrawn, I understand, and I propose: "That Senator Honan be elected Acting Chairman."

Question put and agreed to.
Senator Honan took the Chair.
