Seanad Éireann debate -
Wednesday, 5 Jun 1991

Vol. 129 No. 7

Business of Seanad.

I have notice from Senator Hederman that, on the motion for the Adjournment of the House today, she proposes to raise the following matter:

The need for the Minister for the Environment to review the charges for planning appeals and for oral hearings which are now a great burden for voluntary, community and residents' associations and are therefore preventing them from participating in the democratic planning process.

I also received notice from Senator Neville of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for the Environment to include the coast road between Limerick and Tarbert, the N69, for investment under the operational programme for peripherality.

I also received notice from Senator Dardis of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Agriculture and Food and the Disadvantaged Areas Appeals Panel to rectify the disproportioned exclusion of areas of County Kildare, compared to all other counties, under the extension of the disadvantaged areas.

I also received notice from Senator Raftery of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Health to give meaningful help to HIV positive haemophiliacs, who got the HIV virus from factor VIII which was supplied through the health boards.

I regard the matters raised by Senators Hederman, Neville and Dardis as suitable for discussion on the Adjournment. I have selected Senator Hederman's matter and it will be taken at the conclusion of business. Senators Neville and Dardis may give notice another day of the matters they wish to raise.

I regret that I have had to rule the matter raised by Senator Raftery as not suitable for discussion on the Adjournment on the grounds of sub judice.
