Vol. 130 No. 2

Business of Seanad.

I have notice from Senator Norris that, on the motion for the Adjournment of the House today, he proposes to raise the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Foreign Affairs in the light of the report adopted by the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe to ask the Soviet authorities in Moscow (1) to reopen the file on Mr. Raoul Wallenberg and his driver, and (2) to allow an international commission access to all the relevant archives.

I also received notice from Senator Neville of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Education to ensure that the extension to St. Mary's national school, Askeaton, is constructed in 1992.

I also received notice from Senator Dardis of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for the Environment to investigate the circumstances which caused the contamination of the water supply in Naas, County Kildare, and the need to review the response of the relevant authorities to the incident, with a view to minimising the risk to public health in the future.

Tá fógra agam ón Seanadóir Pól Ó Foighil:

Go ndéanfadh Aire na Mara leagan Gaeilge den Bille Um Thruailliú na Farraige 1990 a chur ar fáil do Thithe an Oireachtas.

I regard the matters raised by Senators Norris, Neville and Dardis as suitable for discussion on the Adjournment. I have selected Senator Norris' matter and it will be taken at the conclusion of business. Senators Neville and Dardis may give notice another day of the matters they wish to raise.

I regret that I have had to rule the matter raised by Senator Ó Fóighil as not suitable for discussion on the Adjournment on the grounds of lack of ministerial responsibility.
