Seanad Éireann debate -
Thursday, 7 Nov 1991

Vol. 130 No. 6

Business of Seanad.

I have notice from Senator Dardis that, on the motion for the Adjournment of the House today, he proposes to raise the following matter:

The need for the Minister for the Environment to investigate the circumstances which caused the contamination of the water supply in Naas, County Kildare, and the need to review the response of the relevant authorities to the incident, with a view to minimising the risk to public health in the future.

I also received notice from Senator Jackman of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for the Environment to notify local authorities immediately of their rate support grants to facilitate local authorities in collecting their estimates.

I also received notice from Senator Neville of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Justice to take immediate action to resolve the serious courts dispute involving 274 clerical staff.

I also received notice from Senator Kennedy of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Justice to intervene in the industrial dispute affecting the courts which is having a crippling effect on court procedures, probate, Land Registry and other significant legal matters.

I regard the matters raised by Senators Dardis, Jackman, Neville and Kennedy as suitable for discussion on the Adjournment. I have selected Senator Dardis' matter and it will be taken at the conclusion of business. Senators Jackman, Neville and Kennedy may give notice another day of the matters they wish to raise.
