Wednesday, 13 Nov 1991

Vol. 130 No. 7

Business of Seanad.

I have notice from Senator Kennedy that, on the motion for the Adjournment of the House today, he proposes to raise the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Justice to intervene in the industrial dispute affecting the courts which is having a crippling effect on court procedures, probate, Land Registry and other significant legal matters.

I also received notice from Senator Neville of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Justice to take immediate action to resolve the serious courts dispute involving 274 clerical staff.

I also received notice from Senator Jackman of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for the Environment to notify local authorities immediately of their rate support grants to facilitate local authorities in compiling their estimates.

I also received notice from Senator Hederman of the following matter:

The need for the Government to sign the 1985 European Charter of Local Self-Government of the Council of Europe.

I regard the matters raised by Senators Kennedy, Neville, Jackman and Hederman as suitable for discussion on the Adjournment. I have selected Senator Kennedy's matter and it will be taken at the conclusion of business. Senators Neville, Jackman and Hederman may give notice another day of the matters they wish to raise.
