Business of Seanad.

An Leas-Chathaoirleach

I have notice from Senator Cosgrave that, on the motion for the Adjournment of the House today, he proposes to raise the following matter:

The need for clarification by the Minister for Education, in relation to the purchase of Carysfort College, having regard to comments made in the report of the Comptroller and Auditor General.

I also received notice from Senator O'Keeffe of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Tourism, Transport and Communications to outline the current position relating to the proposals by An Post regarding restructuring.

I also received notice from Senator Jackman of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for the Environment to notify local authorities immediately of their rate support grants to facilitate local authorities in compiling their estimates.

I also received notice from Senator Ross of the following matter:

The urgent need for improved sewage treatment in Greystones, County Wicklow.

I also received notice from Senator Raftery of the following matter:

The need for the Government to take immediate action to help more than 6,000 farmers who are having difficulty paying their land annuities, otherwise over 400,000 acres of land will be returned to the State.

I regard the matters raised by Senators Cosgrave, O'Keeffe, Jackman, Ross and Raftery as suitable for discussion on the Adjournment. I have selected Senator Cosgrave's matter and it will be taken at the conclusion of business. Senators O'Keeffe, Jackman, Ross and Raftery may give notice on another day of the matters they wish to raise.
