Seanad Éireann debate -
Wednesday, 4 Dec 1991

Vol. 130 No. 13

Business of Seanad.

I have notice from Senator Batt O'Keeffe that, on the motion for the adjournment of the House today, he proposes to raise the following matter:

In view of the increased level of drug smuggling, particularly in the Cork area, the need for an urgent review to be undertaken of the adequacy of existing prevention structures.

I also received notice from Senator Joe Costello of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Health to make provision for the disposal of clinical waste from hospitals which will not involve on-site incineration.

I also received notice from Senator Carmencita Hederman of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Finance to proceed with the cycleway around St. Stephen's Green as prepared by Dublin Corporation in 1980 and as discussed with the Office of Public Works at a meeting on 21 April 1983.

I also received notice from Senator Tom Raftery of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for the Marine to take immediate steps to prevent the quay wall in Cobh, County Cork, from collapsing into the sea.

I regard the matters raised by Senators O'Keeffe, Costello, Hederman and Raftery as suitable for discussion on the adjournment. I have selected Senator O'Keeffe's matter and it will be taken at the conclusion of business. Senators Costello, Hederman and Raftery may give notice for another day of the matters they wish to raise.
