Seanad Éireann debate -
Thursday, 2 Apr 1992

Vol. 132 No. 2

Business of Seanad.

I have notice from Senator Jackman that, on the motion for the Adjournment of the House today, she proposes to raise the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Tourism, Transport and Communications to outline her plans for the retention of the Shannon stopover.

I also received notice form Senator Honan of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Tourism, Transport and Communications to outline the Government's policy on our regional airports and also the status of Shannon today and during the full term of the Government.

I also received notice from Senator Ó Cuív of the following matter:

The need for the Minister of Health to make resources available to the Western Health Board to enable them to provide geriatric care in homes that are nearer to the families of the patients.

I regard the matters raised by Senators Jackman, Honan and Ó Cuív as suitable for discussion on the Adjournment. I have selected Senator Jackman's matter and it will be taken at the conclusion of business. Senators Honan and Ó Cuív may give notice on another day of the matters they wish to raise.

In view of the similarity of the motion from Senator Jackman and Senator Honan I understand there is agreement to share the time.

That is what you call consensus politics.

Before I give the Order of Business, may I inform the House that we will be sitting next week, Wednesday, 8 April and Thursday, 9 April, and on Tuesday and Wednesday of Holy Week. In that time it is hoped to deal with the Culliton report, the ACC Bank Bill, Reform of the Seanad, the Committee Stage of the Electoral (No. 2) Bill, 1991 and the Environmental Protection Agency Bill from the Dáil.
