Thursday, 14 May 1992

Vol. 132 No. 10

Business of Seanad.

I have notice from Senator B. Ryan that, on the motion for the Adjournment of the House today, he proposes to raise the following matter:

The need for the Minister for the Environment to ensure that there is a representative of non-governmental organisations in the Irish delegation to the World Environmental Conference in Rio de Janeiro.

I also received notice from Senator Ó Cuív of the following matter:

Le fiafraí den Aire Oídeachais cinntiú go dtabharfar comhstádas don Ghaeilge leis an mBéarla i gcoinníolacha iontrála na n-ollscoileanna agus inistitiúid eile tríú leibhéal.

I also received notice from Senator B. Ryan of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for the Environment to provide special funding to Cork Corporation to enable them to rehouse the tenants of Blackpool Flats which are unhealthy, unsanitary and unsafe.

I regard the matters raised by Senators Ryan and Ó Cuív as suitable for discussion on the Adjournment. I have selected Senator Ryan's matter regarding the World Environmental Conference in Rio de Janeiro and Senator Ó Cuív's matter and they will be taken at the conclusion of business. Senator Ryan may give notice on another day of the other matter he wishes to raise.
